Polymer polyols are defined as very fine and stable dispersions of solid polymers (vinylic polymers and copolymers, polyurea, polyurethanes) in liquid polyethers. Currently polymer polyols represent one of the most important group of polyolic intermediates for elastic polyurethanes. The experience of flexible foam manufacture using polyols containing inorganic fillers (BaSO 4, CaCO 3), leads to the observation that fillers act as nucleating agents during the foaming process and aid cell opening at the end of the rise process, and the hardness or load bearing properties of the resulting filled flexible PU foams are markedly improved. Generally the inorganic fillers substantially increase the flexible foam density.

Conventional polyol is a kind of polyether polyol (polyether polyol is roughly divided into soft foam polyether, rigid foam polyether, CASE polyether and POP series) to produce slab stock foam on continual line for furniture, sleeping mattress and auto seat, etc. It is lumpy, usually soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, alcohols, and ketones, and has hygroscopicity. It has high activity, good stability, high chain segment strength, and large tolerance to additives.

Conventional polyol is An important polymer raw material, mainly used to make various polyurethane materials. It is also often used in furniture, automobiles, clothing and other industries (but it contains low-molecular aldehydes, alcohols, and shuttle acids, which will produce unpleasant odors).

Production process Under the action of alkaline catalyst, glycerin, p ropylene oxide and ethylene o xide undergo anionic ring-opening polymerization to form crude polyether polyol, which is neutralized, dried, and filtered to obtain soft foam polyether polyol.
